Busy, But In A Good Way!

Trying to keep up w/ Blog. Been busy, but in a good way.

Let’s see last Friday I ate at Farmer Brown’s in SF, whose focus is southern food. They’re all about supporting local and african-american farmers, using organic, biodynamic, and/or sustainably raised foods, and beverages whenever possible. This marriage of farm fresh southern cuisine with local bay area ingredients in a down home soulful atmosphere gives farmerbrown its unique vibe. From the entrees to the cocktails served in mason jars to the interior design--everything is hand-made and carefully crafted by the staff.

Saturday I tabled for ASA at The West Coast Cannabis Expo at the Cow Palace. I spent a lot of time addressing concerns about recent federal threats against medical marijuana. This new federal crackdown against medical cannabis dispensaries (MCD’s) is an intimidation tactic that probably won’t work. But we won’t stand idly by while these attacks on our community go on. Yesterday 1,1,77 people sent emails from the ASA Online Action Center, and countless more called in response to this message and others like it from our allies! You can still do it now!

The DOJ announcement underscores the need for Congress to pass H.R. 1983, the States’ Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act. People across the country should contact their member of Congress and urge them to pass H.R. 1983, a bill that would reclassify medical marijuana and allow states to develop, implement and enforce their own laws without interference from the federal government.

On the brighter side, there are some celebration/fundraisers coming up. The 5th Annual San Francisco Medical Cannabis Competition, known as “The Patients’ Choice,” our annual event is now in it’s 5th year and all proceeds we raise helps to benefit the activities of the San Francisco Americans for Safe Access (SF-ASA) chapter. www.sfsafeaccess.org

Also, Puff Puff, Politics, a night of exploration of  3 of the best medical strains available in San Francisco. Political discussion between tastings led by national and local leaders. Gourmet munchies and a beverage bar will be provided throughout the evening. Medical marijuana patients will evaluate and score the cannabis tasted. This is a fundraiser for ASA National. https://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/182/p/salsa/event/common/public/?event_KEY=71834

And I want to end by encouraging consideration to the proposed demands of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Participate in Democracy and vote here to have your voice heard.
