The majority seeking cannabis from dispensaries are legitimate

The main criticism of dispensaries—that they cater largely to recreational consumers who fake or exaggerate symptoms to get the requisite doctor’s notes—is simply that, a criticism. The fact of the matter is a majority of people seeking cannabis from a dispensary are legitimate patients. Cannabis is medicine; and saying otherwise would be to dismiss our bodies own Endocannabinoid System. Endocannabinoids are crucial to bioregulation. With scientific evidence suggesting their role in inflammation, insulin sensitivity, immunomodulation, analgesia, cancer and fat and energy metabolism. The endocannabinoid system may even hold a cure for chronic neurologic and immune conditions. Patients deserve proper guidance on how to use medical cannabis, and which strains are going to help most, and my understanding is that in Washington State employees at recreational pot shops are forbidden by law from discussing the medical benefits of specific strains or products with the customer. Patients deserve more. I live in Oakland and we have Measure Z stores that sell to recreational users, but they don't carry high Cannabidiol strains. Cannabidiol (CBD) is a compound in cannabis that has medical effects but does not make people feel “stoned” and can actually counter the psychoactive effects of THC. After decades in which only high-THC Cannabis was available, CBD-rich strains are now being grown by and for medical users. Extensive preclinical research – much of it sponsored by the U.S. government – indicates that CBD has potent anti-tumoral, antioxidant, anti-spasmodic, anti-psychotic, anti-convulsive, and neuroprotective properties. CBD directly activates serotonin receptors, causing an anti-depressant effect, as well. On top of all that a majority of Americans are now choosing complimentary alternative medicines such as herbal remedies over pharmaceuticals pushed by traditional medicine. We must keep#safeaccess to medical cannabis separated from our recreational pot stores, for both medical and recreational users have very different.http://www.forbes.com/sites/jacobsullum/2013/11/18/if-medical-marijuana-in-california-is-de-facto-legalization-why-not-make-it-official/?fb_action_ids=10202850214724574&fb_action_types=forbessocial%3Acomment&fb_source=aggregation&fb_aggregation_id=288381481237582
