We have known for some time that the potential benefits of medicinal cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep, but a pair of scientists at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco found that a compound derived from marijuana could stop metastasis in many kinds of aggressive cancer, potentially altering the fatality of the disease forever. Large well-designed studies now suggest coffee may be protective for some cancers too. A recent large study looking at the effects of coffee on throat cancer have found drinking coffee seems to reduce your risk of death from oral or pharyngeal cancer by about 50%. Drinking more coffee is better than drinking less, and drinking caffeinated (normal) coffee is better than decaf. Studies have also revealed that both coffee and marijuana can protect cells by acting as antioxidants.
