ASA Medical Cannabis #Unity13 Conference - We Did It!
The entire SF Chapter of ASA, including myself attended the Medical Cannabis Unity Conference this past weekend. We had a lot of fun and accomplished our mission.
300 supporters from all over the globe attended; 35 states, and 4 countries were represented. There were patients, doctors, researchers, students, labor and more. It was amazing! The 1st day was spent covering the latest research, the 2nd day covered the latest information concerning our movement around the globe, and the 3rd day was trainings and workshops. After the conference portion wrapped we had a Press Conference and Lobby Day to urge our Representatives in the House to cosponsor HR 689, the States' Medical Cannabis Patient Protection Act, and HR 710, the Truth in Trials Act. There were over 100 meetings with members of Congress. Please take a minute to urge your Representative in the House to cosponsor HR 689, the States' Medical Cannabis Patient Protection Act, and HR 710, the Truth in Trials Act today! http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/182/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=12535
Some of the highlights for me were; keynote speaker Dr. John Schwarz, father of the String Theory comparing us to the movement behind scientific reason at the dawn of enlightenment. Hearing Delegate Cheryl Glenn, Sponsor of the Maryland Medical Marijuana Act, a true patriotic hero and a real defender of patients in need of safe access to their medicine speak at ASA Congressional press conference before we hit the halls of capital hill to urge our reps to cosponsor federal medical marijuana legislation. And making a surprise visit to Senator Dianne Feinstein; after her staff never returned our calls we decided to drop in with 60 constituents from California and demand a meeting; which we indeed got.
Thank you ASA staff, especially the tireless work of Executive Director Steph Sherer and CA Director Don Duncan, 2 of my personal heroes and everyone else that attended and made this conference special. We did it.
