How Safe Access should be provided during SIP
My work has been deemed an essential service by the state during the shelter-in-place happening because of the coronavirus covid-19 pandemic. I work at a cannabis dispensary in Oakland California. Cannabis is medicine. So we are viewed the same as a pharmacy.
I just want to say thanks to Debby Goldsberry and Kathryn Nelissar and the whole Magnolia Oakland team for making me feel safe and secure in my wellbeing. If you're looking for a great example of how #safeaccess should be provided during #shelterinplace look no further. It's not good enough to just set the bar. You have to keep raising it. Especially when it comes to health and safety. Always be looking ahead at what latest data, relevant info and research says, but never losing sight of who and why your doing it... for patients and to transform community by being leaders and showing how it's suppose to be done, showing how an essential business should run when dealing with a pandemic.
People seem to think social distancing is just a recommendation here. It's not; it's the law, and violations are a misdemeanor that come with fines and/or arrest.
If w can't keep up 6' distancing rules, and if everyone does not wash their hands or sanitize them before entering, we can be shut down under the new regulations taking effect tomorrow night at midnight. (The new rules make it the responsibility of each essential business to enforce these rules or close.)
According to our Executive Director Debby Goldsberry,
"Our goal at Magnolia Oakland is that no one gets COVID 19 on our watch, and that's gonna take all of us to be sure of it."
Under the new shelter in place order put out by the governor that went into effect April 2nd we can be fined and jailed for not following them strictly. So we put those new health and safety measures in place right away. Thankful for the extra precautions we're are taking during this pandemic.....
I hope we never have to get used to this way of life, but sure glad we're implementing so many measures to protect everyone. These are trying times. Grateful we have safea ccess to #cannabis; and governments recognize it as truly #essentialmedicine.
Cannabis dispensaries have been deemed Essential by the state of California and the County of Alameda and to be treated as essential health care service.
We are following strict CDC Guidelines for infection control.
Take Care. Stay In The Square. Curbside pick up recommended but Magnolia has retail option. It's an interesting dance we have to perform at the sales counter. There is tape on the floor in the shape of a box. Members must stand in the box which is 6 feet away from the counter when it's time for them to approach the counter we step 6 feet back and they step forward place the cash on counter and step back.....
We are constantly disinfecting, wiping down surfaces and counters, washing our hands and sanitizing.
Magnolia Oakland remains open 7 days a week, from 11 AM - 7 PM. We've taken nearly 100 steps to ensure the safest means for our members to secure cannabis in during these awful times.
To minimize, wait times, to promote social distancing, and to facilitate the health and safety of all, we ask members to use our express ordering at 510-628-2113 or order online at www.magnoliaoakland.org
You may then use curbside pick up or come in and use the express pick up line.
