Hodgepodge of Highlights!

Last weekend I attended The International Cannabis and Hemp Expo, Downtown Oakland! It was said to be the nation's 1st marijuana street fair. There were speakers, hundreds of exhibitors, music and a large "Patient Consumption Area and VIP Lounge" with "approved onsite consumption" -- located directly in front of City Hall, including a Hash Bar. I would’ve liked to see more focus on the educational part, but all in all I had such a splendid time!

I went shopping for BBQ at Whole Foods Market Oakland on Labor Day. I took Zipcar. I was pleasantly surprised to see new & improved coffee bar; including La Marzocco espresso machine, & hand pour coffee brewing.

The largest environmental civil disobedience in decades concluded at the White House with organizers and Nine Nobel Peace Laureates, including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, pledging to escalate a nationwide campaign to push President Obama to deny the permit for a new tar sands oil pipeline. The total number of arrests came to 1,252. http://www.tarsandsaction.org/

To create jobs, the President unveiled the American Jobs Act – nearly all of which is made up of ideas that have been supported by both Democrats and Republicans, and that Congress should pass right away to get the economy moving now, as long as compromise is not an option when it comes to defending the American Dream. Those who privilege tax breaks for the rich over jobs for the rest of us will stand in the way of Obama’s strongest measures, so we must continue to fight until we get the job done.

I join with Rebuild The Dream in pledging to keep fighting for the American Dream, defined as “hard work means that you can live with dignity, provide for your family, and give your kids a better future.” Most importantly, I pledge to fight alongside Obama as long as he keeps at it, but if he falters, I’ll stand by whatever leaders remain in the fight. Can you say the same for yourself?

I finished off the week visiting four SF Medical Cannabis Dispensaries as ASA's SF Community Liaison! The dispensaries I visited were SPARC, Medithrive, Igzactly 420, and Releaf.
