Sunday Roundup

Earlier this week I took a tour of a couple San Francisco coffee roasters; Sightglass Coffee Bar & Roastery in SOMA at 270 Seventh Street and De La Paz Coffee in SOMA at 1081 Mission Street. Sightglass’ Coffee Bar & Roaster is a huge temple of coffee. Headed up by brothers Jerad and Justin Morrison who believe, "Attaining a perfect roast is a sensory craft; it’s an intuition, a smell, a sound, a slight change in color — it’s about deep attention to detail, and it comes through in every cup.” http://sightglasscoffee.com/
De La Paz is roasting everyday with a coffee and espresso bar coming soon. Their main focus is outstanding quality. http://www.delapazcoffee.com/

At our SF ASA chapter meeting, Matt Cote of Cannabis Times Magazine discussed Terpenes, the fragrance molecules found in all plants, and their effects on how we respond to cannabis. http://www.sfsafeaccess.org/

Governor Jerry Brown has vetoed SB 847, a bill by Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) that would have required medical cannabis cooperatives and collectives be located at least 600 feet from residential zones! http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/182/t/0/blastContent.jsp?email_blast_KEY=1225657

The Rand Corporation confirms what patients and advocates already knew... Cooperatives and collectives do not cause crime! http://safeaccessnow.org/blog/?p=1888

And Saturday at more than 2000 events in 175 countries, folks who are fed up with our politicians ignoring climate change, let those leaders know that a movement is rising to move our planet forward to a clean energy future, http://moving-planet.org/ and the Occupy Wall Street demonstration is protesting the disparity of power and wealth that exists in our society. Tensions are rising at the Occupy Wall Street protest, currently in its eighth day. Peaceful women were maced at by police at Occupy Wall Street Protest. https://occupywallst.org/ I appreciate both these events and hope they make a difference!

And funally, I checked out Make Westing; a badass cocktail bar with a couple bocce courts and outdoor seating in Uptown Oakland. http://makewesting.com/
