Book Report: Tangled Vines: Greed, Murder, Obsession, and an Arsonist in the Vineyards of California

Book Report: Tangled Vines: Greed, Murder, Obsession, and an Arsonist in the Vineyards of California

Wow! Fascinating book about the wine industry. The main plot itself is extremely captivating, especially since it took place right here near where I live on Mare Island. A massive fire broke out in the Wines Central wine warehouse in Vallejo, California. Within hours, the flames had destroyed 4.5 million bottles of California's finest wine worth more than $250 million, making it the largest destruction of wine in history.

The wine industry may seem very well established and looks pretty stable, but you should look back at its history and formation. So many milestones and markers that could help guide and predict what’s going to happen in the cannabis industry. So many similarities…

Did you know after prohibition ended hundreds of wineries sprung up only to go out of business or be swallowed up by larger companies?

And before prohibition even existed, there was only one controlling party, The California Wine Association. The California Wine Makers Corporation was formed at one point so that grape growers could use their collective might, but in the end after a long, and protracted war that included lawsuits and court battles, and a race to the bottom as the price of wine kept falling, the Corporation was crushed.

If you want to learn more about how the wine industry was formed and learn from their mistakes to avoid them, then read this book.
